65 papers annulled on first day of Baccalaureate session

As many as 65 papers of the candidates who sat the first Baccalaureate exam, in the Romanian language and literature, were annulled, while the students caught copying will be able to take the exam again the next year, Deputy Minister of Education Ion Grosu said in a press briefing, IPN reports.

The first exam was taken by about 5,000 candidates in 70 Baccalaureate centers. “Everything went smooth. The atmosphere was generally good. There were only several violations. The necessary measures will be taken in the near future. Experience showed that the decision to install video cameras was justified. We urged everyone to comply, but not all of the candidates listened to us,” stated the deputy minister.

Some of the candidates introduced electronic devices and materials for copying. “The most spread method of copying was through the mobile phone. But the video cameras showed everything. However, some of the assistants in 29 centers tolerated copying. We will continue to verify the recordings. If we identify candidates copying, their papers will be annulled. We will find out about this on June 27,” said Ion Grosu, adding that if major irregularities are identified the exams at these centers can be annulled.

All the twelfth graders will take the Baccalaureate exam in the language of learning on June 7.
