637 candidates to get “10” in foreign language exam automatically

In the 2017 Baccalaureate session, 637 students will get the grade of 10 in the foreign language exam automatically. These students have internationally recognized certificates confirming knowledge in the respective area. An order to this effect was signed by Minister of Education Corina Fusu, IPN reports, quoting the Ministry of Education.

According to the director of the National Agency for Curriculum and Assessment Anatol Topala, compared with the previous session the number of students who will get “10” automatically in the foreign language exam rose by 38%.

“This shows the increasing interest of the young people in learning a world language, with English remaining at the top of preferences. Of the total number of applicants, 492 possess English language certificates, 97 – French language certificates, 18 – German language certificates, 16 – Spanish language certificates, while 14 – Italian language certificates,” stated the quoted source.

The grade of 10 will also be given to students who won the first, second and third places at national foreign language Olympiads or won medals at international Olympiads.

The 2017 Baccalaureate session will take place during June 2-20. The exams will be taken by 19,488 students, 12,595 of whom are lyceum students, while the others study at colleges and universities.
