626 new cases of COVID-19

626 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed today in Moldova, this being a new anti-record set. Six people died, the death toll from the new coronavirus reaching 914 people, IPN reports.

The Deputy Director of the National Agency for Public Health, Vasile Gustiuc said, that today have been processed totally 2889 tests. Of 626 confirmed cases, there are four imported cases and 29 cases are among medical workers.

Currently, there are 512 patients with COVID-19 in severe disease condition and there are 31 patients undergoing mechanical ventilation.

The Deputy Director of the ANSP informed also that, in the period 12 - 18 August 2020, unannounced checks have been performed in 150 commercial units, and as a result various violations of pandemic rules have been detected in at least 34 cases. The violations included overcrowding, failure to respect physical distance, failure to take the body temperature, failure to use face masks correctly, etc.

At the same time, there are more than 32,000 people placed in self-isolation, but more than 90 of them deliberately left their homes, noted the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Sergiu Golavaci.

The total number of infections with the novel coronavirus reached 31,400 cases in the country.
