About 60 per cent of the projects proposed by residents of the Academica scientific-technological park with its incubator named Inovatorul relate to producing renewable energy, Info-Prim Neo has been told by the president of the Moldovan Science Academy (MSA) Gheorghe Duca. As he addressed a relevant reunion the top researcher said that the Academica park and its incubator Inovatorul were launched in December 2007, as the Parliament passed the respective law. The scientific-technological parks and the innovation incubators are legal entities getting together think-tanks developing innovating technologies, and businesses putting those technologies to work. “There is a long way to go from the scientists’ labs till the production facilities. This happens because the link transforming the scientific result into innovation lacks, so that the innovation should be taken over by businesses and applied into production. By launching the scientific-technological park and its incubator, that link has come into being,” Duca said. The MSA president pointed out the investments proposed by residents would reach 4.5 billion lei till 2012. The volume of production in the next three years, the period during which the residents enjoy facilities, is to reach 8 million lei, as the profit is expected to go up to 2 million lei. “The principles employed to select the projects were that they should promote innovating technologies, but also they should keep an eye on the market’s demand. Over 60 per cent of the projects refer to producing renewable energy, because such a production streamline is required by the market. “There was a time when there were as many as 6,000 windmills whirling in Moldova! Shall we speak of using of using sunlight or buifuel?!” Duca asked. Another condition for accepting the residents is that their projects are to based to developments of Moldovan scientists or in cooperation with those. The first result: farmers will soon be proposed a new fungicide to treat trees which is being developed within the scientific park, following an investment of 1.5 million lei. The selected residents need to practice innovation and technology transfer activities and to have available an innovation plan of 2-3 years. Instead they benefit of tax and customs facilities, equal to the ones enjoyed by residents of free economic zones. The state was the first founder of the scientific-technological park and incubator, allocating 3 million lei. Later, such entities may be created by local administration, private entrepreneurs, possibly on the sites of former industrial centers in Moldovan districts, as they have ready the infrastructure and can provide certain services.
