The most attractive deposits in October were deposits with terms from six to twelve months, equaling 43% of total deposits, IPN reports referring to National Bank of Moldova data.
In October, the volume of deposits in the national currency constituted 1 633.6 million lei, which represented a 7.9% increase compared to the previous month and a 2.1% increase compared to October 2018. The volume of deposits in foreign currency, recalculated in Moldovan lei, constituted 923.3 million lei, which was a 5.4% decrease compared to the previous month and a 19.7% decrease compared to October 2018.
In October 2019, natural persons placed most deposits, which accounted for 80%, of which 46.4% were placed in national currency, while 33.6% in foreign currency.
The average rate for new deposits in national currency constituted 4.63%, while in foreign currency it constituted 1.02%. Natural persons placed deposits with an average rate of 5.11%, while legal entities placed deposits with an average rate of 3.38%. The highest average rate for deposits, namely 5.44%, in national currency from natural persons was recorded in two to five year term deposits, while from legal entities in three to five month term deposits, the rate being 3.76%.
The average rate on new deposits in foreign currency increased by 0.12 percentage points, compared to September 2019. Natural persons placed deposits with an average rate of 1%, while legal entities placed deposits with an average rate of 1.35 %.
Compared to the similar period of the previous year, the average rate on deposits attracted in national currency increased by 0.04 percentage points, while the average rate on deposits placed by legal entities decreased by 0.68 percentage points. Compared to the same period, the average rate on deposits attracted in foreign currency decreased by 0.05 percentage points.
