575 years of Chisinau’s foundation marked by exhibitions, concerts and festivals
The Chisinau City Hall prepared a great concert to celebrate the City’s Day, which will involve famous singers from Moldova and Romania, said the deputy head of the Culture Division Ianos Turcanu.
The program of the event was presented in Monday’s ordinary meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The activities will start as usual with laying of flowers at the monument to Ruler Stephan the Great at 08.00. A liturgical service will be held at the God’s Birth Cathedral starting at 08.30. It will be followed by the official opening of the holiday in the Great National Assembly Square, where Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will deliver a congratulation message.
Exhibitions of paintings, graphic works, handicrafts, books and flowers will be opened in the square of the God’s Birth Cathedral and in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great and Holy” at 11.00.
A pop and folk music concert will start in Chisinau’s central square at 17.30. There will perform the orchestra of Advahov brothers, Zinaida Julea and Mihai Munteanu, the orchestra “Lautarii”, Aura Lavric. The concert will end with recitals by the bands Snails, Zdop si Zdup, and Morandi from Romania, and with a firework display.
Cultural-artistic activities dedicated to Chisinau’s Day will be held during the week as well. “The Museum of History of Chisinau will be reopened at 11.11 on October 11. A theater festival will take place during October 12-15. On October 13, it is 20 years of the opening of the first Romanian books library in Chisinau – the Library “Transilvania” that is located in Ciocana district,” said Ianos Turcanu.
On October 14, 2011 it is 575 years of the foundation of Chisinau.
