An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale occurred in Romania’s Vrancea region in the morning of October 28, at 02:38am, winter time. The tremor was felt in Moldova.
Ion Ilieş, head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Institute of Geology and Seismology of Chisinau, has told IPN that the quake occurred at a depth of 140 km. In Chisinau, the seismic intensity was of up to 5 and lasted for at most five seconds. No damage was reported as a result of the earthquake.
The last quake of high intensity that was felt in Moldova happened this March and measured 4.5 on the Richter scale.
