57 broadcasters ready to cover election campaign
The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) Friday approved the internal regulations of the 57 broadcasters that expressed their readiness to cover the election campaign for the July 29 legislative elections. Another 11 broadcasters, all private, have informed the Council they will not engage in the campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Dinu Ciocan, head of the BCC’s Monitoring Division, said that 56 broadcasters got involved in the election campaign for the April 5 elections. He also said that nine more broadcasters could lodge applications for participation with the Council.
The regulations concerning the covering of the election campaign for the July 29 elections were adopted by the Central Election Commission (CEC) on June 23. The broadcasters were to approve internal regulations within three days of this day and present them to the BCC in another two days. Theoretically, all the interested broadcasters have completed these talks.
“If more broadcasters that want to cover the campaign appear after the deadline set in the CEC regulations expires, the decision will be made by the body that adopted the regulations,” said Gheorghe Gorincioi, the Commission’s director.
The internal regulations of the public institutions are approved by the supervisory boards of these institutions, while of the private mass media – by their administrations.
