“5+2” talks could be resumed by end-November

There are preconditions for convoking a new Transnistrian conflict settlement meeting in the 5+2 format by the end of this November, it was noted in a meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip and representatives of mediators and observers of the 5+2 format talks, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, in the meeting the sides referred to the developments in solving such problems as the registration of motor vehicles with Transnistrian license numbers and transportation of freight by train through the Transnistrian region. It was also discussed the opening, in the near future, of the bridge in Gura Bacului. Progress was also made in apostilling the diplomas issued by Transnistrian education institutions.

Such issues as the good functioning of the Moldovan-administered, Romanian-language schools, the access of farmers from Dubasari district to their land located beyond the Tiraspol – Rybnitsa road and elimination of obstacles to the free trade of people, goods and services between the two sides of the Nistru remain key on the agenda.

The Transnistrian conflict settlement talks in the 5+2 format involve representatives of the OSCE, Russia and Ukraine as mediators and of the U.S. and the EU as observers.
