52 public servants vacate their seats on a temporary basis

As many as 52 public servants have left their posts on a temporary basis because they were included on the lists of candidates of the political organizations registered so far as runners in the November 30 parliamentary elections. President of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Iurie Ciocan said that 90 public servants were to vacate their seats by today, October 15. Those who didn’t do it will be warned. If they do not comply, the CEC will demand that the court of law should remove them from the lists.

The given legal provision applies to deputy prime ministers, ministers and deputy ministers, ex officio members of the Government, managers of central public authorities, district heads and deputy heads, mayors and deputy mayors, town district heads and deputy heads.

Under the law, the Prime Minister and the members of Parliament do not need to leave their posts.

In the October 15 meeting, the CEC voted in favor of modifying the list of the Liberal Party. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, acting director of the Museum of History Natalia Lipca, acting director of the Lyceum “M. Berezovsci” Ana Eremei and mayor of Pepeni village of Sangerei district Dorin Pintea were struck off the list.
