Two men from Chisinau were detained for drug trafficking in particularly large proportions. The suspects, aged 32 and 39, on Tuesday were caught hiding drugs in order to sell them later, IPN reports.

During searches, the police and prosecutors from Anenii Noi discovered almost 500 packages with substances suspected of being PVP (salt). A criminal case for drug trafficking was started against the suspects. Under the law, the individuals risk up to 15 years in prison.

Also, one of the suspects tried to offer 85,000 lei bribe to a police officer from Anenii Noi in order to avoid detention. The money was transmitted through a taxi driver, but the officer immediately reported the corruption attempt. In this case, a criminal case was started for active corruption, which carries a penalty of at most 6 years in prison.

The suspects were placed in pre-trial detention for 72 hours, and the authorities will take steps to apply preventive measures in the form of arrest.
