A man aged 50 died in a house fire in Radenii Vechi village of Ungheni district on September 8.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, the firefighters were alerted by neighbors at 15.30. The fire was localized in about 10 minutes, but the man couldn’t be saved.

The flames destroyed objects in two rooms and a part of the roof. An investigation to find out the case of fire is under way. The preliminary version is reckless smoking.

The fires caused by smoldering cigarettes so far this year resulted in 30 deaths.
