50 Moldovans wait to be evacuated from Gaza

Fifty citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are in the Gaza Strip asked for assistance, including evacuation, out of the about 100-120 Moldovans who are in that area. The updated information was presented by the government information verification channel First Source, IPN reports.

“The Government of the Republic of Moldova does its best to evacuate the 50 Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip, but the Rafah crossing point at the border with Egypt remains closed. So far, no country managed to take its citizens out of that zone. We are permanently in touch with the international partners so as to manage to evacuate the civilians, including the citizens of the Republic of Moldova,” the authorities posted on the channel.

The Embassy detached a consular functionary to Egypt, who is ready to travel to the Rafah border crossing at any moment to issue the necessary documents to the Moldovans from Gaza and to facilitate their trip to Cairo and later to the Republic of Moldova.

“We are ready to offer assistance to the Moldovan citizens immediately after we receive official notifications from the Egyptian and Israeli authorities about the opening of an evacuation corridor,” says the informative note.
