At the end of August, 50 more buses will be put on the suburban routes of Chisinau, in addition to the 87 buses that were placed on the same routes in 2020-2022, IPN reports, quoting the municipality.
This year alone, the Chisinau City Hall plans to purchase 220 units of transport for the Urban Bus Company. In 2020-2022, 87 of the 174 bought buses were put on 18 routes that serve the inhabitants of the suburbs of the capital city. These are new and used buses of the makes ISUZU, VDL, MAN, and Volvo. At the end of last year, the municipality acquired 16 articulated buses “Solaris Urbino 18”, which will run on urban routes.
Owing to these purchases, it was possible to increase the number of units of transport that are put on routes every day, by extending particular routes and opening other routes. For example, bus route No. 37 “Vasile Alecsandri St – Stăuceni commune” was reopened in 2021. The number of units of transport on most of the suburban routes was increased, including on routes No. 9 “Henri Coandă St– Codru town”; No. 16 “Agrarian University – Vatra town”; No. 18 “Ismail St – Revaca village”; No. 33 “Ismail St – Dobrogea village”; No. 44 “Ismail St– Sîngera - Revaca”.
In the period, there were purchased 85 new and used trolleybuses. As a result, the number of vehicles on trolleybus route No. 34 “Ciuflea St – Trușeni” was extended. At the request of the residents, a new trolleybus route was opened, No. 33 “SUMF -Durlești”, while route No. 35 “Vasile Alecsandri – Durlești” was supplemented and extended. To fluidize passenger traffic, trolleybus route No. 37 “Terminal – Bubuieci” and the itinerary of route No. 36 “Chisinau – Ialoveni were extended.
