5 years of ANPC
The National Agency for Competition Protection (ANPC) celebrates 5 years of activity. Head of the institution Viorica Carare stated, in an international press conference dedicated to this occasion, on June 29, that the foundation of ANPC was an absolutely necessary challenge for Moldova, since a market economy can only develop through fair competition; this fact should be understood by the business sector, the civil society and consumers, reports Info-Prim Neo.
In these 5 years, the National Agency for Competition Protection has issued over a thousand rulings for the application of legislation on competition. There were 551 court hearings. On an average, in the period 2008-2011, the weighted average of court cases won by the ANPC was 64% out of all finalized actions.
Viorica Carare added that in August 2011 a bill on the conceptual modification of the normative framework for competition, dubbed Law on competition was completed. The bill on state support was also completed. The Parliament adopted both projects, after a series of public consultations.
The head of the ANPC mentioned that some of the future goals are to assure transparency and promote a competitive culture in the business sector. ANPC aims at creating an efficient system for the notification, monitoring, and report of the state support given.
The National Agency for Competition Protection was created at the Parliament’s order in 2007; the goals were to promote the state’s policy in the field of competition protection, to limit and stop non-competitive activity of economic agents and authorities of public administration, as well as monitoring the enforcement of legislation on competition.
