48,400 unemployed recorded in 2007
48,400 unemployed persons registered at the National Employment Agency (NEA) in 2007, by 3,400 fewer compared with 2006. The Agency found employment for 23,800 people, Info-Prim Neo reports. The data were made public at a national meeting of the NEA offices.
As many as 48,300 vacancies were recorded as a result of the cooperation between territorial agencies and employers. This is by over 800 vacancies more than in 2006. Some 48.3% of the job vacancies were filled with the help of the agencies. A number of 28,700 persons had been engaged in professional orientation and career-related psychological assistance activities. Out of these, 36.4% were young people and 58.5% women. About 10% of the official unemployed or 4,600 persons completed professional training courses.
Cooperation contracts had been signed with 44 vocational education establishments that teach about 40 professions, including artistic handicraft. Some 74.2% of the unemployed that completed professional training courses had been employed. This is by 5.4% more than in 2006.
A number of 1,202 work permits had been issued to migrant workers and another 611 had been extended. Also, there were extended 295 individual work contacts of the Moldovans working abroad. To carry out the National Action Plan on migration and asylum, the territorial agencies informed the population about the methods of finding employment abroad and about the risks of illegal migration, distributing about 15,000 leaflets.
