The owner of a sheepfold located near Cosernita village alerted the police of Floresti district after he discovered seven sheep tore up and another 40 sheep suffocated in the morning. The man said he heard nothing suspicious during the night.
According to the Floresti Police Inspectorate, representatives of a number of district institutions travelled to the scene to investigate the case. It is alleged that the sheep were attacked by a pack of wolves, IPN reports.
To prevent such attacks in the future as well as thefts, the police recommend animal breeders to securely lock the doors of stables or annexes to houses where the animals are kept and to lit these areas at night. One or two guard dogs can also prevent unpleasant experiences.
