46 trucks with Moldovan vine blocked near Moscow

A number of 23 trucks with bottled Moldovan wine and 23 trucks and two freight cars with non-bottled wine have been stopped at the terminal Solntsevo near Moscow and are not allowed to go further. The wine certification process was stopped. The information was made public in a Government meeting involving representatives of the winemaking industry on July 7, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of Agriculture Valeriu Cosarciuc said Russia's food safety body Rospotrebnadzor did not notify of an embargo on the Moldovan wine products. Prime Minister Vlad Filat said the winemaking sector is very important for Moldova and the related problems must be treated with maxim care. According to Valeriu Cosarciuc, the wine exports in January-May this year rose by 17% compared with the corresponding period last year to US$69 million, while wine production increased by 23%. The minister also said the wine companies rescheduled their debts. In an interview for Echo Moskvy radio on July 6, Rospotrebnadzor head Ghennady Onishchenko said the Moldovan wine is unsafe to drink “Nobody is interested in this wine anymore. It should be sold neither in Russia nor outside it. I don't know what this wine can be used for, possibly only to paint fences,” he said.
