An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred in Romania’s Vrancea region at 1.27pm. The quake was felt in Moldova as well, in particular in the central part.
Head of the Experimental Seismology Center of the Institute of Geology and Seismology of Chisinau Ion Ilies has told IPN that the quake occurred at a depth of 96 km. In Chisinau, the intensity was of about 3 degrees.
Ion Ilies said such quakes pose no threat to humans and buildings.
Quakes occurred also in July, with the last three happening on July 31. One of these measured 3.1 on the Richter scale. A more powerful earthquake, of 4.7 degrees, took place in the middle of May.
