A number of 45 anti-heat medical assistance points were opened in public medical institutions in Chisinau and its suburbs last weekend. These were outfitted with first aid kits, devices for measuring blood pressure and drinking water, Health Division head Mihai Moldovanu said in the June 26 meeting of Chisinau services officials.

“I realize that the number of assistance seekers will increase during the next few days, when temperatures are projected to be higher. Anyone who needs assistance will be offered it,” Mihai Moldovanu stated for IPN.

Besides anti-heat points set up in medical institutions, an emergency team will be on guard at the beach in Vadul lui Voda town on the weekend. Such measures are stipulated in an order signed by the mayor of Chisinau municipality with the aim of decreasing the impact of hot weather on the population’s health.

The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued a yellow code advisory for heat for the period between June 25 and July 1. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach +37 degrees Celsius.
