445 companies working on electronic communications market
As many as 92 applicants over nine months were authorized by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) to work on the electronic communications market and were written in the Public Register of Providers of Networks and Services. On October 1, 2011, the number of providers included in the register totaled 445, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the ANRCETI, there are 158 providers of broadcasting services, 150 providers of Internet services and 118 data transmission providers. The fixed terrestrial point-to-point network links are the most popular. There are 305 such links.
Sixteen providers of electronic communication services were struck off the register at their request. In the same period, the Agency withdrew 47 licenses for kinds of activity in telecommunications and informatics obtained before 2008 as the holders asked to be authorized in the conditions of the general authorization regime.
Another 311 economic entities hold licenses for the kinds of activity stipulated in the Telecommunications Law. When the licenses expire, they will have to comply with the rules of the general authorization regime set by the new Electronic Communications Law.
