As many as 44 kilograms of red caviar conveyed in insanitary conditions and without the accompanying documents were discovered in a truck at the Rezina-Pod customs post. The truck was heading from Rybnitsa to Rezina and was driven by a Moldovan, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Customs Service.
In the customs statement, the man declared only consumer goods and personal belongings. However, during a check, there were found four plastic containers with salmon caviar made in Korsakov town of the Russian region Sahalin. Under the sanitary rules, the caviar and fish products are transported and stored at a temperature of 5-8 degrees Celsius. These conditions weren’t met.
The driver faces a fine of 1,600 lei for violating the customs rules.
