A team of 42 medical workers from Romania will help doctors of the hospitals of Chisinau, Bălți and Cahul to fight COVID-19. The medical staff came to Moldova on April 30 and will work here for 15 days, IPN reports.
Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu thanked the Romanian side for the provided support, noting that the gesture made by the Romanian people, who also face the effects of the pandemic, is appreciable and of a high value. “It is valuable because this activity comes from heart to heart and is designed to strengthen the health system and to save lives, destinies in fact,” stated the minister.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Oleg Țulea appreciated the generous support offered by Romania, saying it is very important for the hospitals in Moldova. “This decision points once again to Romania’s solidarity with the Republic of Moldova and is another conclusive example of the special importance of the strategic partnerships that exists between our countries and that we celebrated three years ago,” he noted.
His Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aurescu, who is in Chisinau on a visit, said that the provision of about €3.5 million to Moldova in assistance in containing the COVID-19 pandemic will be considered by the Government of Romania in a meeting today. In the name of Romania, he offered condolences to the families of all those who lost the battle with COVID-19 and wished speedy recovery to the sick ones.
“We hope that during these two weeks we will work hand in hand and will share our experience and will provide additional support to our patients in the diagnosis, management and treatment of persons infected with COVID,” said Andrei Uncuța, acting director of the National Clinical Hospital.
A part of the protective equipment donated by Romania arrived in Chisinau today. The consignment includes 3,000 sets of protective clothing, 6,000 FFP2 masks, 6,000 surgical masks, 11,500 pairs of gloves, 100 face shields and others.
