A number of 41 economic entities were authorized to provide public electronic communications networks and services last year. Thus, the number of companies written on the Register of Providers in 2015 rose by 3% on 2014 to 547, IPN has learned from the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology.
Of the 41 companies, 25 chose to provide both public electronic communications networks and services, four only networks, whole 12 only services. The Internet access and audiovisual programs retransmission services were the most popular ones. As many as 19 and, respectively, 21 new providers were authorized to furnish such services.
The Agency has applied the regime of general authorization of electronic communications activities since 2008. The applicants that want to provide public electronic communications networks and/or services are issued with a statement informing them about their inclusion in the public Register of Providers within seven days of the notification of the Agency and these can start work for an indefinite period of time. The general authorization procedure is free of charge.
