The victims and relatives of the persons who suffered in the gas cylinder explosion that occurred in a café near the Central Market of Chisinau will receive by 40,000 lei in financial assistance. General Finance Division head Veronica Herta has told IPN that the money will be allocated from the local reserve fund.
“It was decided to allot by 40,000 lei to each of the families of the 13 persons who sustained injuries in the blast given that they incurred costs and will be unable to work for a period,” explained the Division’s head.
Veronica Herta also said that the money is to be disbursed on March 16 or on March 17 at the latest. Earlier, the municipal authorities allocated by 20,000 lei in financial assistance to the victims of the explosion.
In an ordinary meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions on March 14, victims and relatives of those affected by the blast asked that all those to blame for the blast should be held accountable. The people earlier also demanded that the mayor of Chisinau and those responsible for the explosion should resign.
About 20 persons were rushed to the hospital as a result of the January 9 café blast, with 13 being hospitalized. Later, four of these died.
