40% of Moldovans consider Moldova to be ruled by authoritarian regime

39.5% of the Moldovan population consider the Communist regime to be authoritarian or dictatorial, show data of a poll called “The Population's Perception of the Democratic Process in Moldova.” The opinion poll was launched in Chisinau on November 18, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to this poll, the Moldovans perceive the existent democratic system as existing only on paper, while its functional aspects are viewed as negative by most of the people. According to Ion Jugau, a manager of the sociology and marketing center CBS AXA, although 40.6% of the interviewees are confident there is a democratic regime ruling Moldova, this index is rather negative because the number of the people not thinking so is large. Only 28.5% recognize the elections held in Moldova to be free and fair, compared to 58.9% of the interviewed who think they are not. 71.4% of respondents consider the results of the elections are counterfeited by parties (49%), by the Government (26%) or electoral organizations (20%). Only 16.1% think they have sufficient information concerning the activity of the opposition and only 15.2% are informed about the recent changes in the electoral law. Only 26.6% think the civic structures are sufficiently involved in supervising the electoral process. Most of the interviewed (62.8%) would like to vote for concrete candidates (the uninominal vote) and only 15.5% accept the existent electoral system, on party lists. 21.7% voice for a mixed system. 33% of respondents want the ballots to have an item “against all”. The poll shows that the voters living on the Nistru's right bank are not interested that the Transnistrians participate in the elections. 41.4% of the respondents support socially-oriented ideas (Communism, Socialism and Social-Democracy), and only 16.6% like the right-wing ideas (Liberal schools). The results concerning their vote options differ from the poll called Public Opinion Barometer publicized in October. Thus, 30% would vote for the Communists Party, 6.4% -- for the Liberal Party, 5.3% for the Social-Democratic Party, 4.3% for Moldova Noastra Alliance, 4% - for the şi Liberal-Democratic Party. According to the authors, the parties with indices higher than 4% have good chances to go past the electoral threshold of 6%, because of the error margin. The Democratic Party (2.8%) and the Christian-Democrats (2.2%) are said to have few chances to enter the parliament. The authors do not rule out the future parliament will be composed of 5-7 parties. The poll was carried out from 22 September to 1 October on 1,259 people, and has an error margin of ±2.8%.
