Twenty movies and 20 photos will be contending in the final of the third Festival “Amatorul” (“The Amateur”) this year. Produced by amateur filmmakers and photographers, they will be shown in the cinema hall of the National Library on May 9, when it is celebrated Europe Day, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Hyde Park Association, which organizes the festival, 79 movies have participated in the third edition of the festival. In the final, there will be competing 10 pictures in the Human Rights division, 5 in the Feature Film division, and another 5 in the Social Video division. The final was also reached by 20 of the 137 photos that competed in the Photography division. The winners will receive by a modern laptop, a money award of US$500, a video camera, a hard-disk unit, and other prices. The partners of the festival are the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Culture Division of the Chisinau City Hall, and the Polish Cultural Institute. The Film Festival “Amatorul” was initiated by Hyde Park in 2010 and is the first festival intended for amateur filmmakers. It aims to promote the freedom of expression by videos and photographs.
