Forty children suffered injuries in traffic accidents so far this year because of the absence of child car seats. According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, five of the children were hospitalized with serious traumas, while 35 with minor injuries, IPN reports.
The Inspectorate’s press officer Natalia Golovco said the children younger than 12 must travel only in car seats, while the drivers must adjust the speed of the vehicle when they have minors in the car.
The data of the National Patrolling Inspectorate show that 21 drivers were caught transporting children without car seats during the last two days. The drivers were warned and face fines of up to 500 lei and three penalty points.
The importance of installing child seats in the car is promoted within the Campaign “Do you know how to avoid street dangers?”, given that the child seat is the only safe method of transporting children younger than 12 by car.
The campaign is carried out within the REPEMOL Project – Regionalization of Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care Services in the Republic of Moldova – and the National Patrolling Inspectorate, with financial assistance from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
