3m lei and about €100,000 were found at ex-administration of CFM, MP

The employees of the state-run “Moldova’s Railways” (CFM) for almost six months haven’t been paid salaries, but during searches at the former administration of the company, there were found 3 million lei and about €100,000, said the deputy head of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Alexandru Slusari, being quoted by IPN.

The searches were carried out at the homes and offices of Iurie Topala, CFM ex-director, and Grigore Condurachi, CFM ex-vice director, and at offices of dispatching companies. In a post on Facebook, Alexandru Slusari said the information was furnished to him by trustworthy sources from the Prosecutor’s Office. Those involved are suspected of appropriating about 300 million lei from “Moldova’s Railways” through the agency of offshore companies in 2015-2019.

“The information that was collected by the SIS during the past five years and provided to the parliamentary commission of inquiry was ultimately used. A role was also played by the resonant report of the commission and by the fact that, on the insistence of the PPPDA, all the names from the informative notes of the SIS were indicated there,” wrote Alexandru Slusari.

President Maia Sandu, at a meeting of the Supreme Security Council at the end of April, said that those from the administration of “Moldova’s Railways” consciously led the company to bankruptcy by corruption schemes, fixed tender contests and considerable swindle and appropriation. As a result of corruption and defective management of the company, the employees remained without salaries.

The recent contest to fill the post of manager of “Moldova’s Railways” was won by adviser to the Prime Minister Oleg Tofilat
