A number of 39 vehicles, 25 of which are Dacia Duster cars intended to improve the capacity of the police to respond to emergency calls of people and 14 are Ford Tranzit cars for transporting persons in police custody, were handed over to the police in an official ceremony on January 15. The total value of the acquisition is 19.48 million lei, IPN reports.
The units of transport were bought within the support to the police reform program, in accordance with the financing agreement signed by the EU and Moldova, and will eliminate the shortage of special vehicles in the police force.
Until now, the EU helped purchase units of transport for transporting detained persons, for the fraud investigation service and for sector officers, mobile forensic laboratories, computation equipment and peripheral devices for investigation services, special equipment for police operations.
