37 square meter flag hoisted in Criuleni

A 37 square meter flag was hoisted today, July 2, in the square of the Criuleni district Council. Head of Criuleni district Vitalie Rotaru said that he followed the example of Vlad Filat, who hoisted a 24.5 sq m flag in front of the Government building on Flag Day, reports Info-Prim Neo, quoting a communiqué from the Government. Being present at the hoisting ceremony, Vlad Filat said that organizing this event on July 2, when Prince Stefan cel Mare si Sfant is commemorated, is not a coincidence. “We all have the duty to cherish the past and present, and together to build the future. A country is not big and strong through surface and number of citizens’, but through their love to the country. The country is represented by symbols, one of which is the State Flag, which’s mission is to keep us united”, said the Prime Minister. The Premier added that of citizens of Moldova should be proud of the country they live in, yet not forget about their duties. The flag was hoisted on a 26 meter high pedestal. Before being hoisted, the flag was blessed in a religious ceremony. On April 27, the celebration of Flag Day, a large flag, measuring 7 meters in length and 3.5 m in height, was hoisted in front of the Government building, being the largest tricolor in our country’s history. Similar flags will be hoisted in two other locations within the country.
