37 persons applied for National Award

As many as 37 applications have been filed for obtaining the 2013 National Award. Of all the applicants, 31 are eligible. The applications were examined in a meeting of the 2013 National Award Commission, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Government.

Six of the applicants were rejected, three of whom because they weren’t proposed by competent institutions. Two of the applications were rejected because the files didn’t contain documents confirming the recommendation letters, while one application was not accepted because it was submitted by a group of authors that included a citizen who is not Moldovan.

There were set up three specialized commissions – on science, technology, and on culture and art. The fourth commission, on sport, wasn’t created because only one application was filed for the sports area.

The next sitting of the National Award Commission will take place on August 19.

Among the applicants are: Doctor of History Sergiu Musteata; Doctor of Law Gheorghe Avornic; wood sculptor Dumitru Costandachi; painter and restaurateur Eleonora Romanescu; founder and conductor of the Folk Music Orchestra “Folclor” Dumitru Blajinu; composer and conductor Gheorghe Mustea, vocalist artist of the National Opera House “Maria Biesu”; former MP and Ambassador to Turkey Fiodor Angheli; writer and poet Valeriu Matei, and writer Spiridon Vangheli.

The rejected applicants include Alina Mazureac (Radu), Aneta Grosu, Victor Mosneag, Petru Grozavu, Iurie Sanduta, and Nicolae Cushchevici, who were recommended by the Independent Press Association.
