A number of 35 household waste collection platforms will be modernized in the capital city by the end of this month. Another 150 platforms, including ten subterranean ones, will be renovated by this yearend.

Contacted by IPN, Vasile Efros, section head at the Public Amenities Division, said this week platforms are set up on the streets Vasile Lupu, Piața Unirii Principatelor Române and Eugen Coca.

The new platforms represent a metallic construction with wooden elements and roof that shelters containers intended for storing waste. These are placed in yards of apartment buildings and on the main streets.

The process of modernizing the platforms started at the end of 2016 and is performed within the Modernization of Waste Collection Platforms project that envisions the renovation of 518 platforms, including ten subterranean ones. Last year there were modernized 200 platforms.

The project is implemented by the local authorities of Chișinău with the support of the National Ecological Fund and has a value of 27 million lei.
