33 new entrepreneurs operate on electronic communications and postal services markets

Twenty entrepreneurs in 2017 were authorized to provide public electronic communications networks and/or services accessible to the public based on the general authorization regime, while 13 entrepreneurs were licensed to provide postal services, IPN reports, with reference to the ICT regulator ANRCETI.

Last yearend, the total number of persons on the public register of providers of electronic communications networks and services stood at 549, while on the public register of postal services providers at 40.

Most of the entrepreneurs who entered the electronic communications market chose to provide both electronic communications networks and services accessible to the public. The services to provide public terrestrial fixed access networks, Internet access and to retransmit audiovisual programs were the most popular ones.

Of the 13 persons who last year entered the postal services market, ten chose to provide both services of the universal postal service and services outside this service, while three decided to provide only services of the universal postal service.

The ANRCETI has applied the general authorization regime for electronic communications activities since 2008, while for postal services activities since 2016. The general authorization procedure is free of charge and the authorization to provide electronic communications networks and/or services or postal services is valid for an unlimited period of time.
