A man from Sărăteni village of Hâncești district died in a traffic accident near Lăpușna village of Hâncești district last night. Another two persons were hospitalized with injuries, IPN reports.

According to General Police Inspectorate press officer Mariana Beţivu, the driver of a BMW car aged 28 from Pașcani village of the same district tried to overtake a vehicle without being sure it was safe and collided head-on with an Audi vehicle.

As a result of the impact, a 31-year-old man travelling in the Audi died on the spot. The driver of the same age and a female passenger aged 19 were rushed to the hospital.

An investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances. The driver of the BMW car was detained.
