31 August Street will be exclusively designated for pedestrian use this Sunday

This Sunday, 31 August 1989 Street in Chișinău, between Serghei Lazo Street and Vasile Alecsandri Street, will be exclusively designated for pedestrian use in celebration of the “European Mobility Week”, held between September 16 and 22.

The European Mobility Week initiative promotes alternative forms of green transport, which aims to send the message that mobility increases the quality of life in cities. This helps reduce air pollution, noise pollution, the number of accidents and combats obesity.

According to a City Hall press release, the municipality will introduce the "31 August 1989 Street renovation and transformation into a green corridor" project during the "European Mobility Week". The event will take place on Sunday, at 13:00, in the “Gheorghe Asachi” high school square, on Al. Pușkin Street.

Between September 16 and 22, 2020, hundreds of European cities are exploring practical solutions, which aim to improve urban life quality by testing alternative transport solutions.
