3,000 damaged trees removed from Chisinau after last week’s storm

About 3,000 trees that were downed or otherwise damaged in Chisinau by the August 9 storm have been removed from the city, announced parks department head Victoria Coval at the City Hall’s ordinary meeting on Monday.

The effort continues, with special attention given to the Dumitru Râșcanu Park, which appears to have been hit the worst.

“There has been no sanitary trimming for years. We propose the removal of some trees that can cause material damage and loss of human lives. Some trees are old and cannot fulfill their ecological functions anymore. They pose a real threat”, said Victoria Coval.

Approximately 370 cubic meters of wood was removed and stored following last week’s storm.
