The works to repair the first local road segment within the almost US$80 million program financed by the World Bank begin in April. In a news conference on March 21, it was announced that US$ 4 million will be allocated for repairing 53 km of the Cornesti – Sinesti – Cornova – Oniscani – Raciula road, IPN reports.
World Bank Country Manager Alex Kremer said eight local road corridors of almost 300 km were selected for being repaired.
Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Iurie Chirinciuc stated that the bidding contests to choose contractors to repair another three road corridors will be held by the end of summer , while for the rest of the road segments covered by the program by this yearend. The project will be implemented until 2022.
Deputy Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Vitalie Rapcea said the repair of each road segment will start when the World Bank provides the next tranche.
The next portions that will be repaired connect the villages Peresecina-Izbiste-Ohincea, Parlita – Balanesti – Selişte and Pojoreni – Costeşti – Horesti – Tipala.
The second stage of the program envisions the repair of the Ivanovca – Izvoare – Vanţina – Ocolina road segment. Another corridor includes the villages Tantareni – Chistelnita – Ignatei – Trifesti. The corridors Ciobalaccia – Tartaul – Baimaclia – Enichioi and Mihailovca – Sadaclia – Iordanivca will be repaired next.
