300 grants to be provided for doctoral studies

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Research suggests over 300 budget-funded grants for third-cycle doctoral higher education for the 2018-2019 academic year. As many as 297 grants were planned for scientific doctorate programs, while 16 are intended for professional doctorate programs. The numbers coincide with the figures for the previous years. The proposals were included in the admission plan that was proposed for public consultations, IPN reports.

The admission quotas are distributed between the six areas of studies defined in the nomenclature of scientific specialties, namely: 40 grants for natural sciences, 37 grants for engineering science and technology, 65 grants for medical sciences, 11 grants for agricultural sciences, 102 grants for social and economic sciences and 58 grants for humanistic sciences.

At the suggestion of the Ministry’s International Relations and European Integration Division, the plan of admission to third-cycle doctoral studies envisions 25 budget-funded places for foreigners, based on international treaties to which Moldova is a party.

The doctoral grants will be provided on the basis of a contest of scientific projects. The contract-based places, with tuition, for third-cycle doctoral studies are set by the Doctoral School that was provisionally authorized or accredited in accordance with the current regulations, by informing the Ministry.
