The Cabinet, at its next meeting, will approve the decision to allocate financial resources for purchasing 3 million protective face masks that will be handed over to each voter who will cast their ballots in the November 1 elections and, possibly, in the November 15 runoffs, Prime Minister Ion Chicu informed in a meeting with the head of the WHO Office in Moldova Igor Pokanevych, IPN reports.
Premier Chicu said the measure is aimed at increasing the level of epidemiological protection of citizens and at contributing to ensuring a higher voter turnout. The eventuality of the voter turnout at the November 1 elections being lower than the required one third of voters and of the elections being rerun is a serious reason of concern for the Government as this can have serious economic, social and epidemiological consequences.
For his part, Igor Pokanevych reiterated the readiness to support the Government’s efforts in this difficult period.
The interlocutors underlined the necessity of actively promoting campaigns to inform the about the protection measures and of implementing the necessary measures on the election day.
