Veronica Herta, who was recently appointed as director of the public utility SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau”, will soon carry out an assessment of the company’s work. Unblocking the project to modernize the company to the value of €60 million, which is financed by the EBRD and EIB, is a priority, IPN reports.
In the September 12 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Veronica Herta said there is a court order by which “Apa-Canal Chisinau” is obliged to pay 16.2 million lei to a business entity for the provided services. Together with other payments that are to be made, a deficit of €2 million will appear in the company’s budget.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca noted that the project financed by the EBRD and EIB should be immediately re-launched. The administration of the public utility is to inventory the assets and to adopt strict rules as regards the company’s spending.
Last weekend, the Chisinau Finance Division’s head Veronica Herta was named as director of SA “Apa-Canal Chisinau” at the suggestion of the company’s Administration Board.
