286 research projects have applied for Academy funding

The Research Financing Center of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences has received 286 research project applications for funding from budgetary resources available for 2015-2018. While the overall costs of the projects are 328.5 million lei, the amount available is 266 million lei, IPN reports.

Elena Zamsa, vice director of the Center, has told a press conference that only 2 project proposals were found to be ineligible for participation. 97 projects concern fundamental research, and 89 concern applied and scientific research. 30% of the funding is available for fundamental research and 70% for applied research.

Viorica Boaghi, director of the Center, said that the evaluation process for the applications is in progress and it should be completed by October 15. The evaluation will involve civil society experts, public authorities, and academia members both national and from abroad.

All the project proposals will be subjected to public debates open to anyone interested. The proposals have been posted on the Academy's website and those concerned may submit comments and suggestions.
