A number of 268 trees have been downed by the hoar frost and ice that formed on branches since January 20. The broken trees damaged 26 vehicles parked under trees, IPN reports.
Head of the Green Areas Association Eliferii Haruta called on the drivers not to park under trees. The costs for repairing the vehicles are covered by the owners or, possibly, by insurance companies. The municipality bears no blame.
In the evening of January 20, a branch that fell under the pressure of ice hit a woman. The victim suffered brain injury and was operated. After undergoing surgery, the woman went into a coma and is now in the reanimatology section.
According to press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Diana Turcan, 98 settlements in 10 districts are now fully or partially disconnected from the electric power supply.
