261 villages are still lacking electricity

261 of those 383 villages in Moldova which were left without power because of bad weather, were still lacking electricity as on Friday morning, January 5. According to data from the Exceptional Situations Department, the supply of power was partially resumed in the most of the affected settlements. 46 out of those 55 villages in Cahul raion were connected to power networks, 8 out of 10 in Basarabeasca. In Leova raion none of those 39 villages were connected to power lines because of a breakdown of the 110kV power network Comrat-Leova on a portion of 2.7 km. 51 villages in Cantemir raion continue to stay without power because 403 pillars and 32 km of power lines were damaged. The power supply was not resumed in 27 villages in Cimislia, 14 in Anenii Noi, 19 in Causeni, 11 in Gagauzia, 18 in Hancesti, 16 in Orhei, 6 in Nisporeni, 10 in Straseni, 6 in Criuleni, 5 in Taraclia, etc. Bacioi and Truseni villages in the Municipality of Chisinau are still lacking electricity. According to him, natural calamities affected especially the southern and the central zones of Moldova. 21 high tension lines of 110 KW and two of 330 KW have been damaged. 53 specialised teams try to re-establish the power and phone lines. Other 94 teams and 337 persons are involved in snow-removing works. 80 soldiers and 5 units of special equipment are liquidating the effects of the natural disaster. The soldiers are unblocking the streets of the town, remove the downed trees from the streets and offer support to the teams which repair the power networks. Also the brigade supplies the raion hospital with water and power helping this way the doctors to continue the treatment of 120 sick persons.
