26 new Peace Corps Volunteers swore in on Friday, August 5. They will serve in Moldova working as agriculture, business, and community development advisors for 4 years, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova Marcus Micheli and Peace Corps Country Director Jeffrey Goveia welcomed these new Volunteers into service with Peace Corps in Moldova. These 26 Volunteers arrived in Moldova on June 9 and recently completed a rigorous course of training to work here. Additionally, these new Volunteers have begun learning Romanian and Russian. Overall, there are 75 Volunteers in Moldova working in four projects: Agribusiness and Rural Business Development, Community and Organizational Development, English Education, and Health Education in Schools and Communities. President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps on March 1, 1961. Today, 8,655 volunteers are working with local communities in 76 host countries.
