25m lei will be used to farm new land and increase soil fertility this year
The 25 million lei earmarked in the state budget for cultivating new land and increasing soil fertility will be distributed to 107 facilities under construction, including 78 transitory facilities and 29 new facilities, according to the work program for 2009 approved by the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre says that the reclaiming works on the water meadows of the Bac River in Anenii Noi district, of the Botna River in Ialoveni district, of the Cogalnic River in Cimislia and Basarabeasca districts, of the Prut in Glodeni district will be continued.
The clearing of the multiannual plantations on the left side of the Nisru in Dubasari district will be also continued so as to farm them again.
The works will be continued in Pragila village of Floresti district, where many houses and 40 wells had been flooded last summer, and in Giurgiulesti, Lingura and Gotesti villages in the south of Moldova, where the precipices pose a danger to the residents.
Under the program on farming new land and increasing soil fertility for 2009, 250 hectares of land will be reclaimed, 5.2 kilometers of drainage channels and 7.5 kilometers of riverbed will be cleaned, 280 hectares of land will be strengthened against erosion, while 2,300 hectares will be strengthened against floods.
According to the Land Cadastre, 297,000 hectares of land had been ameliorated in Moldova by January 1, 2009. These included 228,000 hectares of irrigated land and 69,000 hectares of reclaimed land.
