About 250,000 saplings will be planted this autumn during the National Greening Day on October 29, IPN reports.
The Forestry Agency “Moldsilva” said trees and bushes will be planted not only in state-owned forests, but also on other areas. Most of the saplings will be planted in Basarabeasca, Nisporeni, Chisinau, and Ialoveni.
There will be planted mainly oak, maple, linden, chestnut and walnut trees and poplars. These species were selected because they are typical for Moldova. The bushes will include dogwood shrubs, Japanese quince and mahonia shrubs. Head of “Moldsilva” press service Viorica Caciuc said these species of bushes develop roots better in this period of the year.
The costs associated with tree and bush planting will be covered with money from the National Ecological Fund. The planting woks will be organized by the local public authorities of the first and second levels.
