250 intraosseous infusion sets and 30 first aid kits donated by WHO

The World Health Organization donated 250 intraosseous infusion sets and 30 first aid kits. The first aid kit contains equipment to provide emergency medical care, especially to traumatized patients who require stabilization and resuscitation. The intraosseous infusion is used in major emergencies, such as cardio-respiratory arrest, circulatory collapse, or trauma, in both adults and children.

The biggest part of the donation went to the National Center for Prehospital Emergency Care (CNAMUP), in particular for its emergency care teams. Some of the sets and kits were also distributed to hospitals in different parts of the country.

According to CNAMUP, about 75-80% of the critical situations, such as an unexpected cardio-respiratory arrest, take place outside the hospital. For this reason, the provision of qualified and timely medical assistance by AMU teams equipped with modern equipment of this kind will certainly decrease risks and mortality rates.

The kit represents a set of basic medical equipment for emergency situations, medical supplies and medication necessary for the provision of quality medical assistance, stabilization of acute or traumatized patients.

Intraosseous infusion sets are used in the treatment of patients in critical life situations who do not have another previously installed vascular access. They are mainly used in case of major emergencies, such as cardio-respiratory arrest, collapse or trauma.

The total value of the donation offered by the WHO is 300,000 euros.
