25 years of Moldovan-German relations to be marked by summer concert

Classical works by German and Moldovan composers will be performed on the stage of the Summer Theater in the Park “Valea Morilor” within the traditional summer concert staged by the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau. In the 16th concert of the kind on July 1, the Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” will perform under the guidance of conductor Mihail Agafita, IPN report.

Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Germany Florian Seitz told a news conference that this year’s concert coincides with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Moldovan-German diplomatic relations.

“We hope a lot that this year we also managed to work out an interesting program for all the inhabitants of Chisinau. This year we laid emphasis on Germany and Moldova in connection with the jubilee date. Thus, in the concert there will be performed works by composers from both of the states,” said Florian Seitz. Everyone is invited to the open-air classical music concert.

Conductor Mihail Agafita said it is not for the first time that the orchestra he heads will play Moldovan-German music. A similar concert was organized on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. The compositions were selected in partnership with the German side so that these represent the bilateral relations the best.

National Philharmonic director Svetlana Bivol noted that the public shows interest in such concerts. “It is a project about which we care a lot, especially because the interest for classical music increased a lot and this gladdens us. The summer concert is watched by many families with children and by young people and this also pleases us,” she stated.

The summer concert entitled “25 years together! Musical trip through Germany, Moldova and Europe” will take place at the Summer Theater in the Park “Valea Morilor” starting at 7:30pm. This year’s concert will include works by Richard Wagner, Marian Starcea, J.S. Bach, G.F. Händel and other composers and will feature soprano Lilia Solomei, baritone Vitalie Cebotari, saxophonist Virginia Sarcu and accordionist Pavel Efremov.

Entrance is free of charge.
