The Russian Federation announced its intention to establish 25 polling places in Moldova for the elections for the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration says that it received several verbal notes from the Embassy of Russia by which the Moldovan authorities are asked to contribute to the facilitation of the organization and holding in Moldova of the September 18 State Duma elections.
The Embassy announced its intention to set up 25 polling places on Moldova’s territory: three on the right bank of the Nistru – one in Chisinau, one in Balti and one in Comrat, with a mobile point in Cahul, and 22 polling places in the Transnistrian region.
The Ministry said there are no impediments for establishing the polling places in Moldova, but urged the Embassy of Russia to refrain from opening polling places in Transnistrian settlements that are not administered by the Moldovan constitutional authorities, given the impossibility of ensuring the security of elections.
